Description: This series of "plates" for digital prints explores different ways of making images. Based on small thumbnail sketches for composition, the digital aspect adds three additional orientations for the drawing. The sum of the four views yields the final design for the print. An important aspect of these works is that they are sequential variations made using the same method. The final image is a derivative of an original, and yet all 313 are similar. The work is a visual exploration of Baudrillard's Simulacra - the theory of simulation, and ultimately of semiotics. |
